About Us
The North Bay Transportation Alliance is a coalition of community members and elected officials representing environmental, business, labor, and transit advocates who want to see transportation improvements and alternatives. We have joined to form a Campaign Committee to seek voter approval of the SMART Train and Bicycle Pedestrian Pathway ballot measure for November 2008. This committee is independent of the Sonoma Marin Area Regional Transit (SMART) District, which is by law prevented from campaigning on its own behalf.
Our work is guided by an Executive Committee co-chaired by: Cynthia Murray, President and CEO of the North Bay Leadership Council; Marge Macris, environmentalist, author and city planner; and Steve Birdlebough, attorney, and former head of Friends of SMART.
There are also Steering Committees in both Marin and Sonoma Counties. The Marin Steering Committee is co-chaired by Marge Macris and Andy Peri, Marin County Bicycle Coalition; and the Sonoma County Steering Committee is co-chaired by former Santa Rosa City Council member Steve Rabinowitsh; Lisa Schaffner, Mayor of Healdsburg and Executive Director, Sonoma County Alliance; and Denny Rosatti, Executive Director, Sonoma County Conservation Action.
