The Yes on Q - SMART Train Campaign Committee wishes to thank
all of the voters who supported Measure Q and gave it the super-majority vote
needed to win. We are grateful to have that support in these tough economic
times. The faith of the voters in the need for green transportation alternatives
and the need for a local economic stimulus package shows that hope and optimism
wasn't just a part of the Obama campaign. Every vote counted and we are so
pleased that people took the time to go all the way to the end of the ballot
to vote Yes on Q.
The Yes on Q campaign consisted of an alliance of strange bedfellows: environmentalists,
business, labor, civic leaders, elected officials, and transportation advocates.
It was a coalition that found much sought after common ground and worked together
to achieve a great improvement for North Bay transportation.
To ALL OF YOU ... Volunteers, Donors, Endorsers, and other Supporters who dedicated
their energy and resources to passing Measure Q, please accept our heartfelt
appreciation of your efforts. We couldn't have done it without YOU!
Now, the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) District will roll up its sleeves
and fast-track the construction of the railway improvements and bicycle / pedestrian
pathway. We are encouraged that Congress is discussing infrastructure improvements
as part of the federal economic stimulus package and excited that the SMART
project could be the beneficiary of that funding, possibly speeding up the
implementation of SMART.
The Campaign Committee Members are committed to making the SMART project the
best it can be and look forward to working with the SMART board to do just
that. Thank You for investing in our future and Working Together we will bring
Green Transportation Solutions to the North Bay!
